Simply register and post a ride or a request to find a driver/carpool driver.
The tool is free to use, easy to operate and offers increased data protection.
In addition, the district’s commuter portal can be used not only for the daily commute to work, but also for all other everyday journeys (e.g. to the gym, town hall or train station) to post requests or rides in order to network with others for these journeys.

I’m looking for a carpool – what’s the best way to go about it?

The principle “Seek and ye shall find” also applies to our fichtelpendler portal – sometimes it’s quicker and sometimes it takes a little longer.
It is always a good idea to check whether a suitable offer already exists before you post your own offer. This is the only way to ensure that existing offers are included in the search process.
Only if no suitable offer is found should you post your own offer. Otherwise it can happen that there are two offers on your route, but no one knows about the other.

What does it cost me to use fichtelpendler?

Carpooling via fichtelpendler is provided to users as a free service by the district of Wunsiedel i. Fichtelgebirge.

Am I insured during the journey?

Regardless of the comprehensive insurance, car pools of employees are covered by statutory accident insurance and civil servants by accident insurance if an accident occurs on the way to work. This applies to journeys to and from work. Detours made to pick up work colleagues or drive home are also generally covered. There is no statutory accident insurance cover for detours that are not related to work and are made purely for personal reasons.

What should I do if I have a problem with passengers?

Unfortunately, we can’t help you with this question!
fichtelpendler is merely an offer to arrange carpooling. If one of the participants doesn’t stick to the agreed rules or you can’t agree on rules in the first place, we can only give you the tip to look around for drivers or passengers again and try again. Of course, you can also contact your driver/passenger about this via our messaging service.

What do I have to consider when registering / transporting children (0-15 years) and young people (16-18 years)?

For legal reasons, children under the age of 16 are unfortunately excluded from carpooling via the commuter portal. For young people between the ages of 16 and 18, a declaration of consent from a legal guardian is required for insurance reasons.

Can I also drive to other districts or federal states?

You can search for or offer carpools throughout Germany; from districts and cities close to the border also to neighboring countries. However, the further the distance, the lower the chances of finding carpoolers. The chance of finding suitable offers has increased significantly with our relaunch in 2013. Intermediate destinations are automatically defined, allowing passengers to hop on within the route.

What happens to my data?

During registration, only a few pieces of information are requested, and these remain anonymous to other fichtelpendler users through your pseudonym/username.
Additionally, you can decide for yourself which of your personal data you want to make publicly visible to the fichtelpendler community. To do this, you can check boxes in your profile.

Another important piece of information is that your data will not be shared with third parties!

If you no longer wish to use our fichtelpendler system, you can delete your data at any time, easily and completely.
