Regional funding programmes: GRW
(Joint Task for the Improvement of Regional Economic Structures)

GRW funding is a funding instrument of the German Federal Government to support economic development in structurally weak regions.

Objectives:

  • Strengthen the competitiveness of companies
  • secure jobs
  • create new jobs.

Funding can take the form of grants, low-interest loans or other financial assistance and is aimed at companies wishing to invest in or relocate to certain regions.

The district of Wunsiedel i. Fichtelgebirge is a C-subsidy area. This means that investment projects carried out in the district of Wunsiedel receive the maximum subsidy rate in Bavaria.

Here are the facts:

  • from € 200,000 investment sum for commercial regional promotion (industry, trade, other services)
  • from an investment sum of € 50,000 for commercial tourism promotion
  • up to max. 35% subsidy for small companies (max. 49 employees, annual turnover max. EUR 10 million)
  • up to max. 25% subsidy for medium-sized companies (50 to max. 249 employees, max. €50 million turnover)
  • up to max. 15% subsidy for large companies (250 employees or more, more than €50 million annual turnover) and this from an investment sum of €200,000 if the eligibility requirements are met (10% less in 5 rural municipalities).
  • Higher subsidy rates apply in some cases for tourism
  • Each investment project generally requires 20% own funds/equity.
